Section 2 winter low/moderate risk sports are currently scheduled to begin on Monday, Dec. 14. The official start date for high-risk sports will also be on Dec. 14, pending approval from the NYSDOH. If we do not have approval to compete, that official start date will be pushed to Jan. 4, 2021, still pending approval to compete.
With the push back of the winter sports start date, Stillwater will start winter sports sign-ups on Friday, Dec. 4. As it stands right now, bowling, alpine skiing and indoor track can begin with regular practices and compete in competitions starting December 14. Indoor track does not have a league schedule at this point, as the Tri-County Indoor Track League is trying to secure venues for events. High-risk sports can begin practice on Dec. 14, but must adhere to the guidelines set by the Department of Health. Basketball, cheerleading and wrestling can hold practices within the guidelines, but are not cleared for competition at this time.
We will continue to keep our families updated as we learn more. If you have any questions, please contact Athletic Director Mike Kinney at mkinney@scsd.org.
