The middle school and high school hallways are usually quiet after school hours, except come October 30 you’ll be able to hear plenty of footsteps.
That’s the day the Stillwater Steppers begin their ninth year of walking the halls of Stillwater.
The walking group started in 2008 as a collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention through the UAlbany Prevention Research Center, Parks and Trails New York and the local steering committee, to help improve general health and well-being.
The Stillwater Steppers walk from 6-8 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the halls of Stillwater Central School. If you are interested in participating, a registration form must be completed before you join the program.
The forms are available in the middle school office during school hours or there will be forms available on a table near the office in the evening. Completed forms can be placed in the folder that will be left on the table.
In addition, all walkers will need to sign in and out each night and wear the badges that will be provided so that they can be easily identified.
For more information about the program, and if you’d like to sign up for free to be a member, please contact Vicky Stewart in the middle school office.
*Please note, the school is not open for walking during school breaks and snow days.
