A trio of Stillwater High School students has won top awards from the 2022 AAA Hudson Valley safety poster competition for their original designs. Bella Degrasse, a junior, won the Club Award, the competition’s highest award, in the primary category. Morgan Kaiser, a freshman, won the Merit Award in the junior high category. Caleigh Plue, a freshman, won Honorable Mention in the high school category.
The annual AAA Hudson Valley poster competition is dedicated to helping students learn important safety habits including car and bicycle safety. According to AAA, “the poster competition brings out the creativity in young people, while educating them on important traffic safety issues. The program continues its primary aim of reducing traffic and pedestrian crashes, one of the leading causes of death of children ages 3 to 14.
“Students of all ages illustrate a selected traffic safety topic, under the supervision of dedicated educators and youth leaders. Older students are invited to compete for topics that are relevant to novice driver safety. This program allows youth to become creative in topic design, while striving to create memorable entries, leading others to safety through example and enthusiasm. Entries are judged locally for recognition.”
