Stillwater senior Kelly Moran and math teacher Walter West have been honored with 2022 Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA) Scholars Recognition awards.
Kelly was nominated for the award by the Stillwater High School counseling department. She was then asked to nominate a teacher and selected Mr. West.
According to her nomination to the CASDA Scholars Recognition program, “Kelly’s passion and drive are evident in her participation in indoor/outdoor track and field; Captain 10th, 11th and 12th grade, Key Club, Student Government, Class of 2022 Vice President, Yearbook Co-editor and National Honor Society.
“Her transcript is highlighted with four Advanced Placement classes, three advanced classes, four college level courses, and a 98.73 GPA is an accomplishment. She will be attending Division I, Indiana University, where she will compete in the jumping events.”
On nominating Mr. West as her teacher, Kelly said, “Coach West has created a classroom anybody is welcome in and he will help you with anything you may need.”
