On Monday, April 8, the Stillwater Central School District will release students early due to the solar eclipse, which will coincide with the dismissal of our schools. While the Stillwater region is not in the path of totality, it’s expected that the area will be significantly affected.
Students will be dismissed at the following times on Monday, April 8:
- MS/HS dismissal: 12:19 p.m.
- Elementary dismissal: 1:19 p.m.
- UPK will dismiss at 1:00 p.m.
- Parent pick up will begin at 1:05 p.m.
- No PM BOCES
- No PM SUNY Adirondack ECHS program
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority; an early dismissal ensures students can arrive home safely prior to the eclipse, as well as experience this rare, extraordinary event. We encourage students, families and staff to learn more about the eclipse and the various ways it can be observed using proper eye protection. SCSD will provide protective eyewear to all students prior to April 8, which should be worn when viewing the eclipse.
In addition, Saratoga National Historical Park will be hosting a “Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party” on April 8 from 2:00-4:30 p.m. More information on the event can be found here.
Again, the safety of SCSD students and staff is our top concern regarding this schedule change. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Joseph Mariano, Jr.
