Making the mark: Stillwater Trap Club to compete in state championship tournament June 8-9

The Stillwater Central School District Trap Club may be new, but the team has already made its mark in the sport.

Foothills Challenge Regional Tournament, Hudson Falls, NY

Comprised of eleven members, the club has competed in several competitions throughout its inaugural season, including the Foothills Challenge Regional Tournament in Hudson Falls on Sunday, June 2. Over 230 registered students from 24 schools participated, with Stillwater finishing in 15th place overall. Freshman Shaymis Brownell also took home a gold medal in the boys modified B division.

The club’s next stop is the state championship tournament on June 8 and 9 in Cicero, NY, which will feature over 1,500 student athletes from more than 120 high schools. Students will participate in two sessions consisting of 50 targets, with individual and team awards presented at the tournament’s conclusion. “The team has grown and improved so much over the course of the season,” said club advisor Chuck Law. “We’ve worked hard and hope to have a great showing at this weekend’s tournament and welcome any local support!”

The Stillwater Trap Club will compete on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. on field seven at the Brideport Rod and Gun Club.
