Individuals in school community test positive for COVID-19, no exposure

March 11, 2021

Dear Stillwater Community,

The Stillwater Central School District has confirmed that two individuals in the high school community have tested positive for COVID-19. We have been in contact with the Saratoga County Department of Health, and they have confirmed that there has been no exposure from these individuals, and there is no need for additional quarantines.

Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

As we round the corner to spring, we continue to review our protocols and ability to expand student learning opportunities. The coming of spring and increased vaccinations make us feel confident that we are moving in the right direction. Yet, we are not in the clear and must continue to follow the protocols in place to keep providing a safe learning and working environment for all. Therefore I continue to emphasize the importance of staying vigilant outside of school, including limiting group gatherings, wearing masks and following social distance guidelines.

As a reminder, it is essential to keep the district informed if your child becomes symptomatic or if someone in your household tests positive. If you have a question regarding COVID-19 symptoms or protocols please reach out. Our COVID Team is here to help. If we do not have the answer we will connect with the Department of Health to get it for you.

Sincerely,
Patricia Morris
Superintendent of Schools
