The girls varsity basketball team kept their winning streak alive by claiming their first Class C Regional Championship on March 15, defeating Lisbon 49-45. The victory secures their spot in the state semifinals for the first time in school history.
“We weren’t really expected to be here, so it’s amazing that we are,” sophomore Addison Thornton said.
The team will take on Cooperstown this Thursday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC). Tickets for the game can be purchased here and are required for entry. Children ages five and under are free. Please note this is an all-digital ticketed event on the GoFan platform. Screenshots and printed tickets will not be accepted and cash sales are not available.
“They’re really comfortable playing there, so hopefully we’ll get a big fan base they can play in front of,” coach Cassidy Chapko said.
As they approach Thursday’s game, the team is prepared for any outcome, but remain focused on one thing: winning.
“Whatever happens, we got here and that’s all that matters,” senior Miranda Price said. “But obviously, we have one goal in mind.”
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to cheer on the team while they make history in their first state semi-final appearance.
Congratulations and good luck ladies!
