Elementary Science Club
Science Club encourages kids to explore science in the world around them and use the skills they are learning in the classroom to record their results. Our science programming provides fun, interactive and educational hands-on activities that instill a clearer understanding of science and how it affects the world around us. Through our program, children in grades K-2 are able to touch, see, hear, feel and taste what science is all about!
Elementary Warrior TV
Students involved in Elementary Warrior TV are responsible for planning, delivering and informing the student body through the use of technology. Students are responsible for committing a considerable amount of time behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Students develop their skills in communication, working together as a team, problem solving and organization. Members of the Stillwater Elementary Warrior TV program successfully inform the student body in less than four minutes daily.
Odyssey of the Mind
Our individual competition teams meet on a weekly basis from October-March. These teams then go to the competition at the area WSWHE Boces site to compete for the states. We work with on average 50-60 students a year.
Pre-K Literacy Program
The Pre-K Literacy program is convenient and fun! We provide 100 book bags, each containing five age appropriate pieces of children’s literature. The bags hang in the lobby of the school near the library and they are accessible during the school day. Families can borrow a book bag for a week and share the books with their preschooler. Upon return of the bag, you will fill out the record form for your child. The binder can be located at the desk near the book bags. There are also instructions available at the desk. Every 10 bags that are completed, students will receive their own special note in the mail along with a small reward. The ultimate goal of the program is for every child to have the chance to read and share these books with their families.
Service Club (4th and 5th grade)
Students in Service Club work to complete a variety of volunteer activities within the school and Stillwater Community. Some activities include collecting, sorting and returning water bottles, with proceeds going to our Backpack Program. Members volunteer within our community at the local food pantry for the annual food drive, the LLS pennies campaign, cleanup of the grounds at the local Post 490 in the spring, etc. Service Club members work with grade levels in their programs such as reading buddies and art club volunteering. The purpose of the Service Club is to promote teamwork, responsibility, collaboration while instilling a sense of pride and responsibility within our school and outside community.
