Communications

Our school district affirms and attests that we have reviewed and understand all state-issued industry guidelines and will submit our plans for reopening to them. In addition, we will post a copy of our finished plan on the district website, www. scsd.org, and in conspicuous areas across school buildings and facilities. The link to the plan appears on the website homepage under the “Reopening Our Schools – Updates & Information” webpage and under the “About Us” webpage. The plan will be updated throughout the school year, as necessary, to respond to local circumstances

As part of its planning for the reopening of schools and the new academic year, the district has developed a plan for communicating all necessary information to district staff, students, parents/guardians, visitors and education partners and vendors. The district is committed to establishing and maintaining regular channels of communication and has reviewed and determined which methods have proven to be the most effective in communications with our school community. The district will use its existing communication channels – including School Messenger emails, text messages when necessary, internal email and the district website, www.scsd.org. – as well as appropriate signage and training opportunities to support the dissemination of consistent messaging regarding new protocols and procedures, expectations, requirements and options related to school operations throughout the pandemic. Additionally, we will send USPS mail correspondence to families when needed and video conferences, virtual training, etc. will be utilized to maintain strong lines of communication with families and staff members.

We will also develop communications for students and families about how to prepare for the upcoming school year, including specific information on the social distancing requirements, how to properly wear a face covering, and proper hand and respiratory hygiene. Throughout the course of the school year, we will continue to train students, faculty, and staff on how to follow any new COVID-19 protocols safely and correctly, including hand hygiene, proper face covering wearing, social distancing, and respiratory hygiene.
