Dear Stillwater Families,

Today, Governor Cuomo announced that all K-12 schools in the state will remain closed for the rest of the school year. However, we will continue to instruct, support and ensure our students are provided meals through this time. Governor Cuomo will announce a decision on summer school by the end of the month.

I know everyone is disappointed in this news. We all thought that maybe there would have been a chance to see each other again this school year. Today’s announcement solidified that would not be possible. I appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility during this challenging time. The district will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. We are always here for you.

August Regents Exams Cancelled

The New York State Education Department announced yesterday that August regents exams have been cancelled. This announcement comes weeks after the June regents exams were also cancelled.

Class of 2020

I know our seniors and their families are all wondering about end of the year events and graduation. I have received many emails from community members with suggestions and ideas. Please know that we are working on a number of different possibilities. Seniors, I promise you that you will receive your diplomas on June 27. A final decision on what that will look like will depend on Governor Cuomo’s executive order at that time. We will share more details as soon as we can. We have many plans in the works for how we will celebrate and honor your accomplishments.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Next week (May 4-8) is Teacher Appreciation Week. I know you are all doing your best to keep our students engaged and I know our teachers are going above and beyond as well. During this tough time, we could all use the extra encouragement, right? So, if you can, make sure a teacher you know feels loved and appreciated next week!
