Congratulations to Stillwater High School senior Miranda Price on reaching 1,000 career points in the girls varsity basketball game against Mechanicville on Monday, Jan. 13!

An elite player, Price cemented her extraordinary achievement in the final seconds of the game following teammate Sadie Hazen’s rebound off Mechanicville. With seconds left on the clock, Hazen effortlessly passed the ball to Price, allowing Price to score her 999th and 1,000th career points. “I obviously really wanted the win,” Price said in an interview with News Channel 10. “…I’m really glad I was able to hit my 1,000.”

Surrounded by family and friends, Price reached 1,000 career points.

Since eighth grade, Price has been a dedicated member of the Stillwater girls varsity basketball team. She plays year-round, including for the Cap City Scrappers, Berkshire Reign and Foothills Flash AAU teams during the off-season, with plans to continue her basketball career in college.

Over the years, head coach Cassidy Chapko has witnessed Price’s skills develop and grow, shaping her into the strong player she is today. “She’s very versatile and strong on the offensive glass,” Chapko said. “She’s a great shooter and slashes really well to the basket.”

In addition to Price’s impressive accomplishment, the Stillwater girls varsity basketball team emerged victorious over neighboring rival Mechanicville – currently ranked second in the state for Class B – by a score of 67-30. The win is significant because Stillwater is currently ranked fourth in Class C, but could now move up after Monday’s game.

As the team gears up for their next match, Stillwater is currently 6-1 in the Wasaren League with an overall record of 9-1. Their next game will be a rematch against Mechanicville on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
