School Tax Information

Instructions for paying school taxes

 

Dear Taxpayer:

Once again this year, Ballston Spa National Bank will be accepting school tax payments. During September only, the bank will be accepting 2012-13 school tax payments at their Stillwater branch located at 428 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, during regular banking hours. Payments can also be made at the Business Office of Stillwater Central School, located at 1068 Hudson Avenue.

The school tax collector will be on duty in the school business office to accept payments and answer questions during the following hours:

  • During September: Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.-12 noon and 1-4 p.m.
  • During October: Tuesday and Fridays Only, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
 

You can also mail your payment, with remittance stub to:

US Postmark determines date of payment.

Make check or money orders payable to:

After October 31, unpaid taxes will be returned to the County Treasurer.

Frequently asked questions regarding school taxes

Q: When will I get my school tax bill?
A: Bills will be mailed out during the last week of August. If you don’t receive your bill by September 10, you may contact the school tax collector at (518) 373-6100, ext. 30024.

Q: When are my school taxes due?
A: School taxes are due, without penalty, by September 30. From October 1-31, payments must include the 2 percent late penalty.

Q: How/where can I pay my school taxes?
A: You can mail your bill and payment to the school at:

Q: Where can I pay my school taxes, if I want to pay them in person?
A: You can pay your bill in person at the High School Business Office or at the Stillwater branch of the Ballston Spa National Bank*.

*You must bring your bill with you to the bank in order to pay your bill there.

Q: What if I am not able to pay my bill before the October 31 deadline?
A: Any bills that are not paid by October 31 will be turned over to the County Treasurer for collection. At that point, additional penalties will be imposed.
