Meet with the Cuomo administration to discuss new Excelsior Scholarship

June 23, 2017- A meeting is being held with the Cuomo administration on Tuesday, June 27 at SUNY Adirondack to discuss the new Excelsior Scholarship. The event is for graduating seniors and their parents.

A college education is increasingly necessary to secure the jobs of tomorrow. New York’s tuition-free degree program, the Excelsior Scholarship, is the first of its kind in the nation. Once fully implemented, the Scholarship will make college possible for hundreds of thousands of students across the state and help to alleviate the crushing burden of student debt.

The Excelsior Scholarship was part of the recent budget, leaving a relatively short timeframe to get the word out about the program. It is important to note that the window to apply for the scholarship is short, July 7 through July 21. Students who miss this timeline will miss out on the opportunity for the Excelsior Scholarship.

We are working hard to make sure that recent graduates know how to access this program. This may be of increased importance for students who may have yet to make their plans for the fall, and who may now be considering application to a community college or other SUNY institution.

Please join New York State officials in a discussion to learn more about this new program, its benefits for current and future students and connecting students to jobs after graduation.

Again, the meeting will be held next Tuesday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. at SUNY Adirondack.

Interested individuals must RSVP to Nancy Leo at (518) 743-2223 or finaidoffice@sunyacc.edu.
