Three seniors commit to playing collegiate sports in signing ceremony

May 23, 2017- Three Stillwater seniors committed to playing their sport at the collegiate level in a signing ceremony on Thursday, May 18 at Stillwater High School.

The Class of 2017 is believed to have the highest number of future college student- athletes to ever come out of Stillwater. In addition to the three students who signed on May 18, 10 other students already participated in a separate signing ceremony on April 13. The three who recently signed had not yet made their college decision at that time.

The athletes making the commitment to pursue excellence in college as student-athletes and some of their athletic highlights making this possible include:

  • Frankie Darwak, Wrestling (Castleton University) - 3-time Wasaren League All-Star, Team Captain, 35-4 as a senior, 86-23 career (3 seasons), Section 2 Finalist, New York State Qualifier
  • Max Lautenberg, Track & Field (St. Lawrence University) - 2-time Wasaren League All-Star, Team MVP, Section 2 Runner-up 110 Hurdles, Section 2 Runner-up 400 Hurdles, New York State Qualifier in Pentathlon, Section 2 Champion 55 Hurdles (Indoor)
  • Bre Sheehan, Volleyball (Colby-Sawyer College) - Wasaren League 1st Team, Team Captain, Team MVP
