March 16, 2017 – Fourth graders at Stillwater
Elementary School recently received a visit from the GlobalFoundries
The students had the opportunity to create circuits and learn about the "cleanroom" at the plant.
This year, GlobalFoundries has also come to Morning Program to help promote STEAM in the elementary school. STEAM is an integrated approach to learning that includes physical and social sciences, incorporation of technology, principles of engineering and design, English language arts, and the application of mathematics.
"As the Next Generation Science Standards are unfolding, it is imperative that we engage and expose students in STEAM opportunities during and after the school day,” said Elementary Principal Paul Morcone.
To continue with the hands-on STEAM activities, General Electric will come visit with fifth graders later this year to build wind-turbine and discuss energy efficiency.
