Oct. 11, 2016 – They’re the best and the brightest and
they can be found in the Lilac gymnasium! Prior to the start of the new
school year, the gymnasium received some new and improved lighting. The
district contracted with NYSERDA to work on the upgrade.
The old lights were becoming dim and would soon require replacement bulbs. The new lights and fixtures are state-of-the art, energy efficient LED lights, saving the district approximately $6,400 a year in electricity costs.
The cost to have them installed was $7,200 net of a $10,000 NYSERDA grant. The district will receive its investment back in 12-14 months and then the savings will accrue to the district.
“We’re proud to partner with NYSERDA in order to enhance the educational experience for students, while also reducing district costs,” said Stillwater Business Manager Mark Methe.
The district has now completed installing new lighting in the gymnasiums in the middle school, high school, and elementary school, as well as the MS/HS music room.
