Dear Stillwater School Community,
This letter is to inform you that at last night’s Board of Education meeting the board accepted the resignation of Elementary School Principal John Powell. While the resignation represents a major change, I want to assure you that a plan is in place to move the district and the elementary school forward. That being said, Assistant Principal Paul Morcone has been named interim elementary school principal and he, along with the entire elementary school team, are busy preparing for the coming school year.
As superintendent, it is my intention to share information with you as quickly as possible. Information that impacts the educational experience of our children will always be shared as transparently as possible.
As with any change, we understand that this news may be greeted with mixed emotions, but we are confident that our staff and students will welcome and assist Mr. Morcone in maintaining the educational excellence for which the Stillwater Schools are recognized. It is our job to ensure that the integrity and quality of all our school programs will continue. I look forward to working with the school community toward the future success of our students.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the new school year and the transition plan that is in place. I can be reached in the district office at (518) 373-6100, ext. 30022.
Superintendent of Schools
