Community turns out for 6th annual Warrior Walk to raise funds for local charities

September 28, 2015 -  A beautiful fall day and lots of enthusiastic students and their families were the ingredients for a successful 6th Annual Warrior Walk on Saturday, September 26 at the Stillwater high school track. The popular event brought in over $1,200 in donations which will benefit several local charities including the Stillwater and Mechanicville Food Pantries.

Centered around a six-hour walk by participants who could compete as part of team, family or independently, the event also featured a variety of activities for the whole family including face painting, a bounce house, field events and refreshments.

New features of this year’s event included custom “Warrior Walk” tee shirts, punch cards to keep track of each lap completed by walkers and Subway gift cards for the first 50 walkers to complete five miles.

All items, as well as the bounce house rental, were generously donated by local businesses including the Callanan family and the Stillwater PTA.  The National Honor Society members provided critical support by assisting with registration, announcing and engaging participants in various activities.

Middle school principal and Warrior Walk organizer Patti Morris said, "I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event including our walkers, volunteers, families and local businesses.  Their generosity and commitment made this event possible and reminds us of why Stillwater is such a special community.”
