A letter from the superintendent regarding teacher on administrative leave

Feb. 24, 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I'm writing to let you know that a middle school teacher has been put on administrative leave while the Stillwater Central School District investigates a sexual harassment complaint regarding his conduct in school.

The teacher was placed on leave on Wednesday, Feb. 24, following reports that he acted unprofessionally and inappropriately toward a female student in the presence of other students in the classroom.

Student safety and well-being are our top priority and we are following our sexual harassment policy as we continue to investigate. We do not tolerate the type of behavior that has been alleged and we are taking this report very seriously.

The teacher will remain on paid leave while the district investigates. We will continue to follow the standard protocol, which may include interviewing staff and students. In addition, we have been in contact with the Stillwater Police Department, but at this time, there is no criminal investigation.

Anyone with information or questions concerning this situation should contact me in the district office at (518) 373-6100.

Sincerely,
Dr. Stanley Maziejka
