Stillwater welcomes new special education teacher

Jena MalinowskiMarch 21, 2014 – Stillwater would like to welcome High School Special Education Teacher Jena Malinowski to the district. She started her new position in early March after Susan McConnell retired mid-year. Prior to that, Jena was a Social Studies long-term substitute teacher at the middle school.

Jena earned her bachelor’s degree in History and Anthropology from Binghamton University. After graduation, she decided to do an internship with the National Park Service as a Park Guide at Sagamore Hill, President Theodore Roosevelt’s home. After working at the park, teaching people about the Roosevelt family, and designing education programs for the museum, Jena realized that she wanted to go into teaching. She earned her master’s degree in Secondary Social Studies and Special Education 7-12 from Molloy College.

“I am very excited to be teaching here at Stillwater,” Jena said. “The staffs in both the middle school and high school are so supportive and friendly. The kids are great as well. They have wonderful personalities that really bring joy to my day. I am so thankful to be here and to see my students grow throughout each year.”
