Stillwater grads return to talk about life after high school

2014 alumni panel participantsJan. 10, 2014 – Seven Stillwater graduates came back to their alma mater today to talk about college life with current juniors and seniors.

The annual alumni event, organized by high school Counselors Lisa Miller and Jennifer O’Brien, affords current Stillwater students the opportunity to listen to their older peers’ experiences and ask questions. Topics ranged from managing homework and work-study jobs to living with roommates and applying for scholarships.

“I like the idea that the alumni panel consisted of last year’s graduates,” said O’Brien. “There’s something about the familiarity of your peers going out and having real-life experiences outside of Stillwater that makes this event so much more meaningful for our current students.”

When asked to give one piece of advice, the recent graduates said not to procrastinate on homework or studying, don’t be afraid to ask for help from professors, join a club or two to help with the transition and meet people, and go to class each and every day.

A special thank you to the following 2014 Alumni Panel participants:
  • Erin Foley, University at Albany, Business
