In addition, Morcone helped develop English language arts and math building curriculum and assessments aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards for multiple elementary after school programs, as well as assisted with grades 6-12 summer school Regents programs.

Morcone said of his new position at Stillwater, “I am honored for the opportunity to have a positive impact on student growth and everyday operations in collaborating with faculty, staff, administration, the Board of Education and the Stillwater community. After spending the last 12 years in the classroom and leading programs at the building and district levels, I am excited to have an impact and work with the dedicated members of PreK-12 staff assisting in building and district goals while educating students academically, emotionally and socially.”

Morcone attended the College of Saint Rose earning his School Building Leadership (SBL) certificate, School District Leadership (SDL) certificate, master’s degree as a certified literacy specialist and bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He also has an associate’s degree from Hudson Valley Community College.

As the PreK-12 assistant principal, Morcone will play a continued role in the character development and safety of students through activities like SHS Gives Back Day and the Afterprom, as well as curriculum development throughout the district. He is also responsible for fundraiser approvals, Schedule B questions, disciplinary referrals, and a number of staff observations at the elementary school. Morcone also oversees new student registration and is the Liaison for Families in Temporary Housing.

“With all of the exciting changes in education,” Morcone added, “I look forward in assisting the implementation process at the macro level, with others, to embrace the successes and challenges that lie ahead in a rich, student-centered learning environment.”
