Class observes growth of baby chicks

Students holding newly-hatched chicksMay 16, 2013 – For the past 21 days, Mrs. Cole's class has been incubating chicks.

As part of this class project, students created keynote presentations about chick development and presented their findings to other classes in the middle school.

They also candled the eggs (a technique where you hold a bright light either above or under an egg) throughout the process to see the growth and development going on inside the egg.

On the final day of incubation, students were able to witness the hatching of the chicks. The class had 21 out of 24 eggs hatch and they are now happily watching the chicks.
