Stillwater CSD still accepting donations for district devastated by hurricane

January 17, 2013 – Stillwater Central School District is still accepting monetary donations for Oceanside Public School District in Long Island, NY, who was devastated by Hurricane Sandy in late October. Four of Oceanside’s school buildings suffered severe damage, and many library books and musical instruments were lost.

A number of fundraising initiatives have already begun at Stillwater. For example, the middle school has raised $340 to date by selling hot cocoa to students on Wednesday mornings. The cocoa proceeds, along with all other donations, will be sent to Oceanside to help buy new books and instruments.

“Even a dollar donation will make a difference,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stanley Maziejka. “Oceanside will be truly thankful for any support we can provide to help rebuild their libraries and music opportunities for students, many of whom lost their own personal belongings.”

Oceanside does not have the room or manpower to accept and sort donated items. However, monetary donations are needed at this time. Please consider writing a check made payable to “Stillwater Central School District” and note “Oceanside Public School District” in the subject line. Monetary donations may be dropped off at any school building’s main office, the business office, or mailed to: Stillwater Central School District, 1068 North Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, NY 12170.

Thank you in advance for any support you can provide.
