Stillwater graduates share their college experiences with high schoolers

Alumni Panel answers questions
Class of 2012 alumni speak to current high school students about their college experiences.

Jan. 4, 2013 – Five Stillwater High School graduates from the Class of 2012 returned to their alma mater today to talk with current juniors and seniors about their college experiences.

School Counselors Lisa Miller and Jennifer O’Brien organized the Alumni Panel.

“The purpose for holding this assembly was to help eliminate some of the mystery of the college experience,” said O'Brien.

Students had the chance to ask the recent graduates questions about various aspects of college. Questions ran the gamut from time management to roommate challenges to collegiate sports.

Junior Class President Madison Mahar and Junior Class Secretary Samantha McDermott directed their questions to US Army Reserve student Danielle Stables about the pros and cons of the military and Ryan DeCota about the work load of an Atmospheric Science major.

“It was nice to see our graduates return to share their experiences with our students in a meaningful way," said Miller. "This is a great way to have them give back to their school and foster a sense of continuity and community."

Both Miller and O'Brien look forward to holding another alumni event next school year.
